Death of Gaid Salah: Algeria losses brave patriot, his positions will remain etched in history

The Minister of Communication, Spokesman of the Government and acting Minister of Culture, Hassane Rabehi, said Monday Algeria has lost, with the death of Lieutenant General Ahmed Gaïd Salah, the deputy minister of National Defense and chief of Staff of the People's National Army, a "brave patriot whose noble positions will remain engraved in History."

In a condolence message in his own name and on behalf of journalist and cultural corporations, Rabehi expressed his "saddest feelings, in this tragic ordeal for Algeria and its people, following the death of the deputy minister of National Defense, chief of staff of the People's National Army, Lieutenant General Ahmed Gaïd Salah, may he rest in peace."

"With the death of this brave men, the sincere Mujaheed and pure patriot who had devoted himself to the service of his country and to its security and stability, Algeria has lost a valiant patriot whose noble positions will remain etched in History."

Rabehi stressed Gaid salah's choice of "standing by the people, supporting the process of peaceful change, the building of the state of institutions and the beginning of a new era."

He added that Gaid Salah's "major fights will remain forever a lighthouse  illuminating Algerian people's path towards the achievement of their aspirations to further progress, development, security and serenity."

"Lieutenant General Ahmed Gaïd Salah passed away faithful to his oath, made to his comrades in arms and brave martyrs, to defend Algeria's independence and preserve national unity."

He is one of "the righteous patriots driven by their faith in the support of Allah and the people, setting an example in sacrifice, abnegation and disinterested activism."
