Minister activities

- Invited, yesterday in Algiers, to the Echaâb newspaper’s forum on «false information and the means to contain it », the Minister of Communication, spokesman of the government, and Acting Minister of Culture Mr. Hassane Rabehi warned media professionals against the risk of falling into the trap of fake news especially with the coming election campaign, adding that «legislation relating to the information and communication sector is up to the expectations and ambitions of the corporation». Referring to the oil and gas bill, the minister noted that “it is in the service of the national economy without prejudice to the interests of the country”. In response to a question on Amar Saâdani’s latest statements on Western Sahara, Mr. Hassane Rabehi stated that Algeria’s position  supporting the Saharawi cause and the right of the Saharawi people is “Clear and unequivocal,” reported El-Moudjahid (P.01-04), Horizons (P.01-03-24), and almost all of the newspapers published today.

- El-Moudjahid (P.01) recalls in its  editorial the commemoration of the National Press Day, which is an opportunity to pay tribute to the militants of the liberation war and to evaluate, also, the progress made by this profession, recalling that the prize of the President of the Republic of professional journalist will be awarded tonight at the International Conference Centre of Algiers.


- The Police of Constantine held a conference on the legal lexicon used in the press as part of the celebration of National Press Day, reports L'Expression (P.09)

- Under the patronage of the Minister of Communication, spokesman of the government and acting Minister of Culture, Mr. Hassane Rabehi, the Echaâb newspaper is organizing, today at 10:30 a.m., a conference-debate on fake news says Horizons  (P.02).


- Midi Libre (P.24) recalls the meeting chaired on Saturday by Prime Minister Noureddine Bedoui and devoted to preparations for the Mediterranean Games in Oran, in the presence of some Ministers and General Secretaries of other relevant Ministries, including the Communication one.

- The award ceremony of the " President of the Republic Prize, of the Professional Journalist", in its fifth edition, for the year 2019, under the theme "The dialogue virtues", will be organized, on the occasion of the celebration of National Press Day, October 22nd, at Abdelatif-Rahal International Center of Conferences, in Algiers, reports El Moudjahid (P.02).

- DK News (P.02) announces that the National Council of Algerian Journalists is organizing, tomorrow 22 October at 10 a.m., at the Sidi Fredj International Scout Centre, the first national meeting to evaluate the press sector, on the occasion of the celebration of National Press Day.

- Yesterday, the National Security Directorate-General organized a national study and training day on the occasion of the National Press Day on October 22 on the  "Unification of the security terms used by the media", chaired by the inspector general of the DGSN, at Châteauneuf  Police High School. This meeting is part of the ongoing training strategy adopted by DGSN to develop the relationship between the two parties, namely DGSN and the media, said El Moudjahid (P.05), Horizons (P.07) and El Watan (P.09).

- Horizons (P.12) talked about the seminar held last Thursday in El-Oued on “Local information in Algeria, modern challenges and future issues” which deals mainly with current issues of local information in its aspects relating to the exploitation of social media content. The participants in the seminar called for professional journalistic exploitation of the information content broadcast on these media.

- Most of today’s press headlines have highlighted the position of the IMF and the World Bank Group at their annual meetings, held from 17 to 20 October in Washington, with the participation of the Minister of Finance, Mohamed Loukal, reiterating their willingness to support and support the economic development efforts in Algeria.

- El-Moudjahid (P.03) and Le Jour d'Algérie (P.04) returned to the new electronic newspaper, which is in time to follow the electoral process. The site covers the main activities of the Minister of Communication, spokesman of the government, and Acting Minister of Culture, Mr. Hassane Rabehi.

-  A pioneer of the independent press in western Algeria, Ouest Tribune press group is celebrating, today,  its 28th anniversary, the daily newspaper reports (P.24).

- The Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Security, Tidjani Hassan Haddam, will take part from today in Brussels (Belgium) in the work of the World Social Security Forum.

- In the new edition of its half-yearly report, published on Tuesday, the IMF forecasts real GDP growth in Algeria of 2.4% in 2020, compared with a forecast of 1.8% in April, noted Transaction d'Algérie (P.03).

- El Moudjahid (P.01) and Horizons (P.01) emphasise the maturity and pacifism of the popular movement, thus recalling the commitment and support provided by the National People’s Army and the repercussions of dialogue, as well as the integrity of the ANIE and the electoral process also citing the latest decisions taken by the Council of Ministers.
