The winners of the 4th inter-high school contest have been honored Saturday in Algiers. The first place returned to Mathematics High School of Kouba, followed by a team from the high schools in Khenchela, while the schools of the cadets of the nation (Sétif) took the third spot.
The award winning ceremony which took place in Aissa Messaoudi Cultural Club was attended by Minister of Communication, spokesman of government Hassan Rabehi, Minister of National Education Abdelhakim Belabed, as well as senior officials.
"This year’s contest, marked by quality participation, constitutes a genuine occasion to encourage Baccalaureate candidates to double efforts to pass this most important exam in their life," said Minister of Communication, spokesman of government.
Rabehi urged the future Baccalaureate winners to "perseverance in their educational curriculum and professional career to contribute to developing Algeria."
The continuity if the "inter-high schools" contest illustrates its particularity, said the minister, adding that contest has been designed to promote competition among high school students from various sregins of the country.
The Communication sector will continue to support any participatory approach of all ministries, notably the National Education Ministry to provide "qualitative and effective" support to students, especially those in year-end exam classes, Rabehi said.
More than 40 programmes on education are broadcast by the national radio channel I and the local radios, he added.
As for, National Education Minister Abdelhakim Belabed said that this ceremony coincides with the 63rd anniversary of the Student Day, adding that "today’s students like those in the past know to preserve the national values, fulfill their aspirations and build the future within prosperity and independence."
The Minister pleaded for the acquisition of knowledge and dedication in work.
