The establishment of the International Press Centre in September 1995 formed a significant contribution in the improvement of the media work conditions as well as the development of the governmental and institutional communication in grand events; national and international.

   

 

In every occasion, results were highly estimated, insofar as this space has facilitated the contact between journalists and their source of information. Commodities offered in the field of telecommunication have also allowed the facility of relating journalists with their newspapers.

These are the raisons which have encouraged the public authorities to set up the International Press Centre into a permanent entity. Its experience was proved, with the passage of the successful events, to be an indispensable tool of communication through commodities offered for better media coverage.

This space is also used to receive cultural and artistic activities as a mean of meeting and exchange. 

Thus, the International Press Centre was established by the executive decree n° 02-117 of 20 Moharem 1423 corresponding with 03 April 2002 bearing the creation of the International Press Centre, as well as, the methods of its organising and functioning.

First of all, it receives the permanent correspondents, special envoys, and the national journalists charged to cover an event. In order , to  make this receiving  fully useful ,journalists are been oriented and informed about the different sources of information , which can be formed  of administrations as well as of  the main institutions , economic , social , cultural , touristic.

The centre organizes press conferences given by Algerian and foreigner people in charge about national and international topical subjects.

The participants are decision-makers of the political and economic world, personalities of the civil society, creators or writers, analysts, observers or high level experts.   

Press conferences or debates cover a large field, although , naturally inspired by the updates ; they can also be aroused by the passing of a Prime Minster or a foreigner personality by Algiers, or by the appearance of a literary work or a specialised study.

Finally, the centre offers a space, whether for occasional or periodic gatherings, and a friendly framework for meeting and exchanging between professionals of the   Algerian or foreigner press.
